Israel wants war with Lebanon

Israel, the belligerent, rogue state, is actually expanding the war now to include Lebanon and Hezbollah. And its own bloodlust will destroy it.

IOF has approved an offensive into Lebanon

There are a number of reasons why Israel wants war with Lebanon. For one, Gaza has proven an unmitigated disaster for Israel reputationally. It has humiliated the IOF, emboldened Israel’s enemies, and drawn ire from much of the world.

So Israel believes that war with Lebanon might help launder its reputation.

What would war look like?

Israel has been unable to defeat Hamas.

This is partly because Israel’s usual strategy of bombing the hell out of a place before moving in with troops has been especially useless against a force that, by Israel’s own admission, has tunnels underground. But it also has to do with the fact that, as pointed out before, the IOF has a reputation for being undisciplined and poorly organized.

This is why Norman Finkelstein says that the war on Gaza is a war on children (echoing the words of UNICEF’s James Elder). Because the IOF is singularly useless at finding and killing the real enemy.

So why on earth would Israel want to start a fight with Hezbollah, a force who in 2006 “battered the Israelis to the point of abject humiliation” to quote John Wight? A force that has only gone from strength to strength since then, boasting 100,000 skilled militants and an immense arsenal of much higher tech weaponry.

Hezbollah has been waging a fairly circumscribed war on the North of Israel ever since October 8th, when Israel began its publicly-declared genocide. Hezbollah has made clear that if the IOF were to stop its attack on Gaza it would, in turn, stop its bombardment of the north.

But Israel has no interest in stopping its ethnic cleansing and genocide. So they’re opting instead to open war on another front.
